What is Cupping?

Cupping is a type of alternative therapy that originated in China. It involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The suction may facilitate healing with blood flow brought to the surface.

What are the benefits of Cupping Therapy?

People use cupping to complement their care for various issues and conditions. Some conditions successfully treated with Cupping are migraines, fatigue, back and neck pain, digestive problems, knee pain, rheumatism and even cellulite. Cupping may relieve muscle tension, improving overall blood flow and promoting cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue.

What is involved in a Cupping Therapy treatment?

During a cupping therapy session, silicone cups are applied to specific acupressure and trigger points relevant to the treatment area. The cups may be used with cream, allowing the therapist to slide them along the fascia. Cupping therapy may be incorporated into a remedial massage therapy session.
